Liquor retailing is a unique market, and finding ways to differentiate yourself from the competition when you’re all selling the exact same thing can be challenging. Over the years we’ve helped Sobeys Liquor with in-store signage, seasonal promotions, shelf labeling, beer & wine programs, and industry events to help them establish and maintain their ‘value and selection’ position in the marketplace.

Can’t decide? Try one of each! With the huge influx of local craft, national and international beers available to the consumer, the retail challenge became purchase paralysis. When there are too many choices, consumers are unable to decide and tend to fall back to what they know or don’t buy anything because they don’t want to risk purchasing a whole 6 pack of a beer they may not like. To address this, we designed their 'Mix 6' program. Customers can choose any 6 individual beers so they can try something new. The bold, clean, contemporary graphics stand out in the cooler, and draw attention to the program - turning a negative situation into positive experience for their beer loving customers.

In liquor retailing, wine has become a massive category. But with too much choice also comes indecision and falling back on old favourites. To encourage trying new things, we worked with Sobeys Liquor to develop the ‘Buy with Confidence’ program. By featuring wines at various price points and flavour profiles, it allowed customers to easily choose a wine they would probably like. Complete with handouts detailing the wine and food pairings, POS materials and shelf flags, people could find their new favourites and take the guesswork out of picking the perfect wine for that special meal.
